Peanut Butter Oat Smoothie

  • Author: Chloe

Ingredients

Scale
  • ยฝ cup Rolled Oats (Old-Fashioned Oats):ย Not instant, as these provide a better texture and sustained energy release.
  • 1 ripe Banana:ย Preferably frozen for a thicker, creamier smoothie. Ripe bananas add natural sweetness.
  • ยผ cup Creamy Peanut Butter:ย Choose a natural variety without added sugar or oils if possible, for a healthier profile.
  • 1 cup Milk of Choice:ย Dairy milk (whole, 2%, skim), almond milk, soy milk, oat milk, or coconut milk all work well. Adjust to your preference.
  • 1 tablespoon Honey or Maple Syrup (optional):ย For added sweetness, adjust to your taste, especially if your banana isnโ€™t very ripe.
  • ยฝ teaspoon Vanilla Extract (optional):ย Enhances the overall flavor profile, adding a warm, comforting note.
  • 46 Ice Cubes (optional): If not using a frozen banana, ice cubes will help achieve a cold, thick consistency.

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients:ย If your banana isnโ€™t already frozen, peel and slice it. Gather all your ingredients by your blender.
  2. Add Oats First (Optional Tip):ย If you have a less powerful blender, you can add the rolled oats first and pulse them a few times to break them down into a finer powder. This helps ensure a smoother texture.
  3. Combine Ingredients:ย Add the rolled oats (or oat powder), ripe banana (fresh or frozen), creamy peanut butter, milk of choice, optional honey/maple syrup, and optional vanilla extract to the blender.
  4. Add Ice (If Using):ย If youโ€™re using a fresh banana or prefer an extra-chilled smoothie, add the ice cubes now.
  5. Blend Until Smooth:ย Secure the lid on the blender. Start blending on a low speed, then gradually increase to high. Blend for 45-60 seconds, or until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and the smoothie is completely smooth and creamy. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides of the blender with a spatula once or twice to ensure everything is incorporated.
  6. Check Consistency:ย Pour a little into a glass to check the consistency. If itโ€™s too thick, add a little more milk (a tablespoon at a time) and blend again. If itโ€™s too thin, you can add a few more ice cubes or a bit more frozen banana (if you have it) and blend again.
  7. Serve Immediately: Pour the smoothie into a glass or two and enjoy right away for the best taste and texture.
